Oats Idli Recipe
Ingredients to prepare Oats Idli :
Main ingredients: | |
Oats | 2 cup |
Sooji rava | 1 cup |
Curd | 1 cup |
Baking soda | ½ tea spoon |
Grated carrot | 1 cup |
Chopped coriander leaves | 4 tea spoons |
Salt | as required |
For tempering: | |
Oil | 1 table spoon |
Mustard seeds | 1 tea spoon |
Cumin seeds | 1 tea spoon |
Chana dal | 2 tea spoon |
Asafoetida | a pinch |
Crushed black pepper | ½ tea spoon |
Chopped green chilies | 2 tea spoons |
Finely chopped curry leaves | 2 tea spoons |
Chopped ginger | 1 tea spoon |
Cashews, chopped | 12 to 15 |
Grated coconut | 2 table spoons |
Oats Idli preparation method :
Grind oats in a grinder to a fine flour.
Heat oil in a pan, add the mustard seeds, chana dal, urad dal and saute for 1 minute.
Now add green chilies, ginger, curry leaves, cashews and a pinch of asafoetida. After 1 minute add sooji rava and saute for 2 minutes.
Then add the oats flour and keep on stirring and roast for 4 to 5 minutes. Take this mixture in a bowl and let it cool.
Then add the grated carrots and chopped coriander leaves. Add curd and 1 cup water.
Now add salt and baking soda, stir very well. The batter should have a medium consistency. Cover and allow the batter to sit for 5 to 6 minutes.
Grease the idli moulds with some oil or ghee. Also heat water in the idli steamer or pressure cooker.
Pour the batter in a the greased idli moulds, place the moulds in the steamer or pressure cooker. Cover and steam the idlis for 10 to 12 minutes.
Allow the steamed idlis to stand for 2 minutes, then remove them with a spoon dipped in hot water.
Now the Oats Idlis are ready to serve .
Serve these light healthy oats idli hot or warm with coconut chutney or sambar.
