How to link PAN with AADHAAR
In India, PAN (Permanent Account Number) card and an Aadhaar card are two important identification documents issued by the government. Here’s a brief explanation of each:
- PAN Card (Permanent Account Number): PAN card is a unique 10-digit alphanumeric identification number issued by the Income Tax Department of India. It is a vital document for various financial transactions. It is mandatory for filing income tax returns, opening a bank account, conducting high-value transactions, purchasing or selling immovable properties, and more. PAN card contains details such as the cardholder’s name, date of birth, photograph, and a unique PAN number. It helps track financial transactions and prevents tax evasion.
- Aadhaar Card: Aadhaar card is a 12-digit unique identification number issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). It is a biometric-based identification document that aims to provide a universal identification number to residents of India. Aadhaar card captures an individual’s demographic and biometric information such as name, address, date of birth, fingerprints, and iris scan. Aadhaar is used for various purposes such as identity verification, availing government welfare schemes and subsidies, opening bank accounts, obtaining mobile connections, and more. It serves as proof of identity and address.
Both PAN card and Aadhaar card are important documents in India, and there have been efforts by the government to link them to streamline financial transactions and prevent fraud. It is important for individuals to have both PAN and Aadhaar cards for various official and financial purposes.
